Marita Noon Wants to Pee in the Pool

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water ….

When I first read the quote below I thought, “That can’t be real. It must be an Onion parody.”

pee in pool“Thanks to the Obama administration’s EPA and the new regulations released today, America is poised to become the ‘no pee’ section of the global swimming pool … Just because we declare that we won’t pee in the pool, won’t stop the others. … We’ll be stuck in our little no-pee section with a crippled economy while the rest of the world will be frolicking in unfettered growth.” – Marita Noon

I guess Marita Noon wants everyone to frolick in pee/unfettered growth?

In case you think I made this up here’s the link to her opinion piece.

  1. Marita Noon said ” Australia has already walked away from its previous administrations’s stringent climate polices due to economic pain and public backlash.”
point : I dispute stringent but there were some baby steps in place…
and yes this present gov absolutely denies climate change , has axed all our climate departments etc as well as removing it from the agenda of the next G20 meeting.
    point : public backlash I dont think so – the ‘public 70 – 80% wants action .
the sad truth is that the power and weight of our mining industry really runs the show.

    1. It is a scary thought that insane people (because how else can one to describe her idea of reality) are in charge.

  2. This person said what is reality though… The Kos reader rightly points out: “As long as China and India are allowed to spew as much carbon as they want into the air it is going to be near impossible to rally this country behind anything that means higher prices that doesn’t do anything to solve the problem.”

    1. I think the country has already rallied. Most polls show an overwhelming number (usually in the 70 to 80 percent range) of people are greatly concerned about global warming. China has already started to reduce emissions and announced further plans this year. The other big contributor is the US. The only people who will lose are executives in the coal industry. As we move to renewable forms of energy and build the infrastructure around that system more jobs will be opened up for ordinary people. Coal is already out anyway. Most of those plants were slotted not to be renewed. It kind of seems like a non-issue to me — besides the point that Heartland feels it is really ok to continue wrecking the planet just on the threat that someone else might get there first.

  3. I’m betting you can find an industry opinion piece warning that nearly any/every regulatory action will trigger the end of the world as we know it. You gotta give this lady credit though – it is a powerful image!

    1. A powerful image that hilariously backfires. Maybe we should crowdfund a kiddie pool to be placed on the moon for all the climate change deniers who like to swim in pee. They can have their world of unlimited growth and ours will be safe from them. haha

  4. It just goes to show how twisted the mind of a climate change denier can be. But baby steps: at least she realizes we ARE all in the same pool. Maybe we can build on that inkling of reality. hahaha

  5. Actually the Eu is doing a lot more than the US. The EU and especially Germany are definitely not frolicking around. And the German economy is still doing well compared to the rest of the world.
