Experts at the university continue to examine the Sam Gamgee MS. I don’t have the book on hand but fear not, dear readers. I asked if they would scan a page so I could share it with you. The scan they sent seems to be about the Scouring of the Shire.

  1. =D More nerd disclosure: I am fascinated by soil science.
    I once went to a talk given by a soil scientist from UT where she showed some of her home movies of soil micro-organisms doing the things they do. It was amazing. She said sometimes she would forget to do her official work because watching this tiny life was kind of mesmerizing. When I think of how such tiny things contribute so much to life on this planet I am kind of awed.

  2. A fungus among us? We should be so lucky.

    I recently read an article about how it is the fungal activity in certain areas that might provide the only substantive corrective to our current carbon woes. Here’s hoping…
